🏀 Lady Knights steamroll Herington in sub-state quarterfinals

The Sacred Heart girls' basketball team rolled their first round opponent at sub-state, breezing by Herington 62-11 on their home floor on Thursday night.

The Lady Knights dominated in all four quarters, opening the game on a 22-2 run and never looking back.

The Sacred Heart defense played arguably its best half of basketball, holding Herington to just four first-half points while scoring 36 of its own.

In the third quarter, the steamrolling continued, as the Lady Knights pushed the lead to 52-9 to take a running clock into the fourth.

From there, Sacred Heart put the car in cruise control, breezing to a 62-11 victory.

The Lady Knights shot 43% from the floor on the night, and kept the pressure on for four quarters, forcing a staggering 28 turnovers to keep their transition offense fed.

Skylar Douglas led the charge for Sacred Heart, racking up 21 points in the win, aided by strong performances from Emmy Lee (17), and Addie Lee (11).

Herington was led by Kenley Kickhaefer with four points.

For the Railers, the season comes to a close at 6-16, while the Lady Knights advance to the semifinal round at 20-4.

Sacred Heart will host Bennington in the semifinal round on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6pm.
