Marvin Koehn Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information (jostfuneralhome.com)
May 18, 1929 - June 17, 2021
Hillsboro - Marvin Koehn, 92, died June 17, 2021 at his residence in Hillsboro. He was born May 18, 1929 to Mano and Eva (Jantz) Koehn in Isabella, Oklahoma. He married Erma Smith March 8, 1953 in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was a carpenter.
Our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Marvin Koehn was born to Mano and Eva Jantz Koehn on May 18, 1929 at Isabella, Oklahoma. He peacefully passed away at his home in Hillsboro, Kansas at 92 years of age.
His early childhood was spent at Isabella, Oklahoma and Morton, Texas, moving with his parents to Burns, Kansas in 1940.
At the age of 12 years he felt the call of the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Burns, Kansas by Min. Jake Yost. The faith was precious to Dad and he remained faithful to the end.
Dad was married to Erma Smith on March 8, 1953 at DeRidder, Louisiana by Min. A.T. Koehn. They made their home at Burns, Kansas where three sons and one daughter were born to them.
Dad loved his family and worked hard to provide for them with farming and carpentry. He was a song leader for many years and served the church in other capacities.
In 1975 they moved to Leland, Mississippi where he continued his work as a carpenter.
In 2001 they moved to Monterey, Tennessee where they enjoyed their retirement. As health began to fail they moved to Hillsboro, Kansas in 2014 to be near their daughter.
On June 18, 2017 mom went to be with the Lord, leaving Dad very lonely.
As the end drew near we felt an especially soft spirit in him, leaving a good testimony of being ready to meet the Lord.
Left to cherish fond memories are three sons: Karl and Gloria and Kennard and Patricia of Indianola, Mississippi and Keith and Ann of Mountain Grove, Missouri; daughter Susan Kahn of Hillsboro, Kansas and son-in-law, Steve Kahn of Ruleville, Mississippi; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter and Erma Koehn of California and Vernon Koehn of Burns, Kansas as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one grandchild, four brothers and one sister.
