Wilma J. Lyon died on Thursday January 26, 2023 at her home in Salina, Kansas. She was born on July 7, 1928 near St. Joseph, KS to Edmond J. and Albertine S. (Sorell) Bechard.
Jean married Alden W. Lyon of Clay Center, Kansas on August 30, 1952 and four children were born to this union.
Alden preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.
Wilma is survived by her sons Raymond Lyon (Carol), Overland Park, KS, Martin Lyon, Salina, KS, Gregg Lyon (Angela), Manhattan, KS, and Keith (Marianne) Lyon Beloit, KS; grandchildren Mitchell (Ashley), Garrett (Veronica), Tyler, Shayla (Mikel), Stephen (Jennifer), Scott (Abby), Meredith (Steve), Monica (Ryan) and Chris (Jaime); great-grandchildren Dante, Alivia, Skyler, Bailey, Brooke, Cillian, Rory and Emrie; brother LaVern Bechard (Audrey), Salina, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. She also leaves behind her loving caregivers, Theresa Medina and Karla Bartz.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alden; three brothers, Roland Bechard, Norman Bechard, Donald Bechard; and four sisters, Mary Frances Anderson, Gladys Forde, Arlene McNeil and JoAnn Kempton.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with Fr. Kevin Weber officiating. Burial will follow at Leonardville Cemetery, Leonardville, KS. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. with a family rosary prayed at 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th, Salina, KS.
