Central Kansas Mental Health Center (CKMHC) offering a Mental Health First Aid training in Lincoln on Friday, November 10.

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

No previous experience is necessary; Mental Health First Aiders are anyone who wants to make their community healthier, happier and safer for all.

As a First Aider, you can be the first line of support for youth experiencing a challenge or crisis. Taylor Haws, Community Based Services Coordinator, is one of five certified MHFA instructors at CKMHC.

“I feel lucky to be a contributor in our area for MHFA awareness and training to help community members recognize risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns,” she said. “My hope is to increase community members’ confidence in supporting others in finding appropriate mental health support when it is needed.”

Participants will receive MHFA certification. Lunch, snacks, and all materials will be provided.

Date and time:

Friday, November 10, 8am

Location:

Lincoln County Ambulance, 102 N 6th St, Lincoln, KS
