Two motorcyclists from Salina were injured and cited for reckless driving on Thursday evening in southeast Salina.

At approximately 7:10 p.m. Thursday Salina Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of S. Markley Road, near the Berkley Family Recreational Area. SPD had received eyewitness reports of two motorcyclists allegedly driving at excessive speeds while "doing wheelies and donuts in the area."

The motorcyclists were later identified as, Cody McElderry, 34, of Salina and Brandon Sanders, 27, of Salina. During the time the pair were driving recklessly, McElderry pulled in front of Sanders causing the motorcycles to collide.

Both drivers were injured. Sanders was transported to Salina Regional Health Center with non-life threatening injuries. Salina Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges said this morning both drivers were cited for reckless driving and Sanders was also cited for no proof of insurance.

Both Sanders and McElderry were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
