On Wednesday it was announced that the Southeast of Saline softball team had claimed the two seed at this year's Halstead regional which will kick off the postseason on Monday, May 16.
The Lady Trojans enter regional play at 15-5 and will begin their playoff push with a 3:30 quarterfinal against the 5-15 Falcons of Riley County.
The winner will advance to face the victor of a 3-6 matchup featuring 12-8 Halstead and 7-13 Minneapolis.
Halstead’s regional will feature some familiar foes as the Lady Trojans are 4-0 this year against Smoky Valley and Minneapolis, who enter as the five and six seeds respectively.
On the other side of the bracket, 18-2 Council Grove comes in as the team to beat with 10-8 Peabody Burns looking formidable as well.
The Lady Trojans, who fell to Smoky Valley in last year's regional semifinal, will be in search of three wins to punch their first ticket to state since 2018.
Quarterfinal matchups begin at 2:00 on Monday, May 16, with the semifinal and championship games scheduled to begin at 2:00 on Tuesday.
