Seismic activity begins again in southeastern Saline County

ASSARIA - After days of seismic silence, several small earthquakes rattled southeastern Saline County early this morning.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck southeast of Assaria at 1:10 a.m. Friday. It was centered just west of S. Woodward Road between E. Hobbs Creek Road and E. Lapsley Road.

At 4:22 a.m. Friday, a 2.2 magnitude quake struck southwest of Gypsum. It was centered east-northeast of the E. Assaria Road/S. Cunningham Road intersection.

Another 2.2 magnitude quake struck at 5:41 a.m. Friday, this time southeast of Assaria. It was centered southwest of the E. Lapsley Road/S. Cunningham Road intersection.
