Larry Remmenga, 77, Minneapolis, died Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at his home with his wife and girls at his side. Larry was born July 29, 1947, at home in Green Lake, WI, to George and Anna Theresa (Lampman) Remmenga.                

After high school graduation, Larry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War in Thailand from 1966-1970. It was there he contacted Agent Orange which led to his death.         

Larry owned and operated Remmenga Oil Company in Elwood, NE. He was also the Utility Superintendent for the Village of Elwood. He moved to Concordia to be Director of Utilities.         

Larry married Karen Lerdall on March 20, 1971, in Elwood. They had two daughters, Teresa and Mindi. On April 4, 2009, Larry married Betty (Orr) Essman of Topeka. They were married on the balcony of his hunting cabin in Concordia.         

Larry was an avid hunter and harvested many trophy white tailed deer, turkeys, elk, and bear. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Nebraska Huskers. He was also a Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. Larry loved to travel and went on many vacations when his girls were younger. After he and Betty were married, they bought a 5th wheel, traveled to many states, and met very good friends along the way.         

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pat, Roberta, and Mickey; brothers, Ralph, Gary, and infant brother, Clarence.         

Survivors are his wife, Betty; daughters, Teresa and husband, Jeff Moore and their children, Maddie and Jaren Moore, and Mindi Young and her children, Noah, Aidan, and Collin. Also surviving are Betty’s children, Tony Essman and wife, Beth and Amy and her husband, R.D. Helt; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Janet; and brothers, Harold and wife, Cathy, and Mike and wife, Starla.         

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 5, at the Bennington Bible Church, 824 N. Nelson St., Bennington, KS 67422. Graveside services with military honors will be Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Elwood City Cemetery, Elwood.
