THE SERIES
- The Coyotes have won three in a row and five of six against Bethany. They defeated the Swedes 101-77 on January 22 inside Mabee Arena and won both games last season. Wesleyan leads the series 23-19 since 2005.
- Ottawa defeated KWU 73-65 in overtime on November 16 in Ottawa. The loss ended the Coyotes' six-game winning streak against the Braves who lead the series 25-19 since 2006.
KANSAS WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
- The Coyotes defeated Bethel 71-70 last Wednesday in North Newton on Alex Littlejohn's two free throws with 5.5 seconds left. They outscored Bethel 13-2 in the final 4:40 of the game. Littlejohn had 17 points and 11 rebounds, Evens Appolon 17 points and five blocks and Easton Hunter 16 points.
- KWU suffered a heartbreaking 83-82 loss to Southwestern on Saturday in Mabee Arena as Littlejohn's last second shot under the basket was blocked. The loss eliminated the Coyotes from the KCAC postseason tournament. Littlejohn led the way with 28 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- This week's games will be the last of Littlejohn's legendary four-year career. He has set numerous records and departs as the school's all-time scoring and rebounding leader. He currently has 1,771 points and 1,212 rebounds. He's averaging 19.7 points on 55 percent shooting, 10.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and has 15 double doubles including a 26-point, 12-rebound effort against Bethany in January.
BETHANY AT A GLANCE
- The Swedes are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are chasing a KCAC tournament berth. They defeated Evangel 85-81 on Saturday in Lindsborg two days after losing to last-place Tabor 110-106 in overtime in Hillsboro.
- Senior Emmanuel Akpan leads Bethany in scoring (18.3) and rebounding (9.5). He had 26 points in the first game against KWU and had 17 points and 15 rebounds on Saturday against Evangel. Senior Kenny Haynes averages 13.2 points.
- Bethany averages 80.0 points and allows 80.6. The Swedes shot 45 percent in the first game against KWU, but the Coyotes shot a blistering 66 percent.
OTTAWA AT A GLANCE
- The Braves have lost two straight after winning three in a row. They lost to Bethel 82-76 on Saturday in Ottawa and Oklahoma Wesleyan 83-76 last Wednesday in Bartlesville, Okla. They defeated Friends 86-79 on February 8 in Wichita.
- Ottawa averages 82.6 points and has four players with double figure scoring averages - Jayden Hibbitt 17.0, Najee Jones 15.9, Keith Robinson 14.7 and Deondre Buggage 12.8. Robinson averages a team-best 8.2 rebounds.
- Ottawa is led by interim coach Jamie Batish who replaced first-year head coach Matt Cross in January. Batish is in his sixth season as a member of the OU staff after three seasons as an assistant coach and two as a graduate assistant.
