
WINFIELD – The Kansas Wesleyan Women's Cross Country team posted one of its best group finishes in recent memory as the Coyotes finished in second out of 10 teams at the NAIA MidStates Classic, hosted by Southwestern College, on Saturday at the Winfield Veterans Home.
The Coyotes had a total team time of 1:39:50, which is one of the top team performances in school history according to Coach Kyle Hiser.
Stephanie Martinez (JR/Horizon City, Texas) continued her stellar season with a fifth place finish, covering the 5K course in 18:59.
Tabetha Deines (JR/Salina, Kan.) finished 14th with a time of 19:32.6, Christina Tripp (FR/Dayton, Idaho) was 19th with a time of 19:58.5,
Jadin Bezdicek (SR/Jackson, Minn.) was 34th with a time of 20:39.3, Daniella Gaona (FR/Clifton, Texas) was 35th with a time of 20:40.5, Regan Rhodes (SO/Mullinville, Kan.) was 51st with a time of 21:53.2, and Cindy Sheaffer (SO/Oberlin, Kan.) was 74th with a time of 23:40.5.
Saint Mary won the team title with 22 points. KWU was second with 96 points and MidAmerica Nazarene was third with 98 points.
Maddy Walter-Sherretts from Saint Mary was the individual champion with a time of 18:31.2.
The Coyotes now set their sights on the KCAC Cross Country Championships, held on Nov. 14 at Salina Great Life Golf Course, hosted by KWU.
