A two-vehicle collision on the western side of Saline County yesterday resulted in one person being transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 2:03 p.m. on July 1, the Saline County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a collision near the intersection of Water Well and Hedville Roads, according to Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander.

The incident involved a 2018 Chevrolet Impala driven by Sarah Mills, 44, of Salina, and a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck driven by Alex Bacon, 36, of rural Saline County.

Melander reported that Mills was traveling eastbound and Bacon was heading westbound when they collided at the crest of a hill.

"They met at the crest of the hill and they sideswiped each other," Melander said. "They both saw each other at the last moment and they both tried to veer to their right respectively to avoid contact but it didn't work. Both vehicles make contact with each other."
