
Terry “Bubba” Payne, 57 of Abilene passed away August 22, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born August 5, 1963 in Junction, City, the son of Jerry and Lesa (Sheridan) Payne.
He graduated from Herington High School in 1981.
Bubba was employed by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Abilene Police Department, Abilene Fire Department, sold cars at Affordable and drove the school bus for Abilene.
He was a member of the Rodeo Committee, Abilene Elks Lodge, and Legion Rider Post 12.
Bubba married Kari Bowers in 1998.
Bubba is survived by his loving Wife Kari of the home. One son, Kelby Payne and a daughter, Kaylenne Breeden. Two grandchildren: Kyler Harwood and Haisley Breeden. One brother; Monty Payne (Patti) and one niece, Holli Payne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandmother, Alice Brady.
The family has chosen cremation. A Memorial Service for Bubba will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Fair Grounds/Beef Show Bard by Sterl Hall in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman Officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Abilene City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Thursday, at New Trail Fellowship Church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Committee/ WBHR. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
