CHARLOTTE, NC - Cloud County Community College sophomore men's track and field athlete Daniel Cope has been named NJCAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his school-record performance at the 2021 NJCAA Region VI Indoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend.

Cope would earn an NJCAA Region VI Title on Saturday, February 20th in the weight throw as the native of Petersfield, Jamaica would go 19.35 meters (63 ft. - 6 in.) in the event to win by nearly four feet. The mark is the second-best mark recorded by an NJCAA Athlete this season as Cope has broken his own school-record on three separate occasions this spring.

It marks the first time this year that a CCCC men's track athlete has been named NJCAA Track Athlete of the Week and the third-time that a T-Bird men's athlete has been named national athlete of the week this year with Courtney Lawrence being named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on January 19th and February 2nd.
