Excessive heat warning, heat advisories in effect

Heat advisories and an excessive heat warning continue for counties in our area.

Heat advisories

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a heat advisory that remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday for the following counties in our area.

Ellsworth County

Lincoln County

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

Heat index values 104 to 107 are expected.

The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has issued a heat advisory in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Friday for the following counties in our area.

Jewell County

Mitchell County

Heat index values up to 106 are expected.

Excessive heat warning

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued an excessive heat warning in effect until 9 p.m. Friday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Cloud County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 103 to 110. This will be the fourth consecutive day of excessive heat for the area.

Make sure to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities. Make sure pets have shade and plenty of water. Or better yet, bring them inside. Remember: at these temperatures, pavement can burn pets' feet.
