The Southeast of Saline Trojan basketball team will look to get back to their winning ways tonight when they travel to Chapman to face the Fighting Irish (3-6).

SES enters tonight at 7-6 and fresh off a tough loss to the Sacred Heart Knights.

“We’re at the point in the season where we still have games to look forward to,” SES head coach Bryson Flax said. “I think the loss stung everyone including myself but I was really pleased with practice on Wednesday and Thursday.”

The Trojans will need to focus if they want to bounce back tonight against a Chapman team that has struggled mightily as of late, dropping four of their last five games.

“We had a lot of talk about body language and preparation,” Flax said.
“I felt like our guys were locked in during practice for the Ellsworth game. For whatever reason I didn’t feel like we were as focused on Sacred Heart.”

Chapman will start a lineup of Eli Regiel, Trey Adams, Trevor Erickson, Jon Jenkins and Cam Liebau tonight, with Adams, Jenkins and Liebau averaging over 10 points per game.

The pace of play will be crucial to the Trojans efforts tonight as Chapman hangs their hats on low-scoring, gritty defensive efforts.

“We have to control the pace and we have to get into a rhythm sooner rather than later,” he said. “This is a team that plays slow and if you let them get comfortable in the half court they can get to you.”

Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm following the SES girls game. As always Eagle Radio is your home for SES basketball and games can be heard on KINA (910 AM or 107.5 FM) or streamed on Salina Post courtesy of Frisbie Construction Co.
