Salina community members are collecting bottled water for the citizens of East Palestine, Ohio, the site of the Feb. 4 derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals.
According to information provided by organizer Rosemary Mai, bottled water will be collected at the following two locations.
Long McArthur, 3450 S. Ninth Street
Bottled water can be dropped off until noon Friday
Doug Bradley Trucking Warehouse, 246 E. Berg Road
Collection will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. United States flags will be placed to direct people from S. Ninth Street to the warehouse.
While water donations are preferred, cash or checks also will be accepted. Checks should be made out to Rosemary Mai.
Mai noted that Doug Bradley Trucking is donating services to deliver the water. The delivery date is March 6.
