Pearl L. Besecker, 95, a lifetime McPherson County resident, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress and a factory worker.
Pearl was born on January 30, 1929, at her home near Lehigh, KS, the daughter of David and Mary Elizabeth (Schneider) Winter. She attended a country grade school near Lehigh and graduated from Galva High School.
Pearl was united in marriage to William Albert “Bud” Besecker on June 17, 1948, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. Pearl and Bud spent their entire married life in McPherson County, living in the towns of Roxbury, Canton, Windom, and McPherson. They were married for 65 years prior to his passing on April 15, 2014.
Pearl was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and most recently, she attended the New Gottland Lutheran Church. She was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #2715 and enjoyed being part of the Gently Aged Ladies, which is a group of special ladies who make quilts and present them to veterans in appreciation of their service.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Peggy) Besecker of Benton, WI; daughter, Judy Jennings of Lakin, KS; son-in-law, Van Bacon of Canton, KS; grandchildren, Scott Wayne (Martha) Besecker, Amanda Ross, Jennifer (Sean) Wilson, Jolene (Dave) Schmidt, Justin Bacon, Jessica (Matthew) Boller, Joseph Jennings, James Jennings, Julie Jennings, and Jodie (Leighton) Werth; 11 great-grandchildren; and many more extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Pamela Bacon; son-in-law, Russ Jennings; seven sisters, Lydia Huenergardt, Olinda Meier, Esther Smith, Dorothy Converse, Helen Minns, Mary Jane Carlson, & Ruth Ann Dick; and two brothers, Albert Winter, and Robert Winter.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Laura Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Crestwood Memorial Park, McPherson.
