January 30, 1958 ~ June 23, 2024

Stephen H. Barkley, 66, lifelong Salina area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 30, 1958 in Salina, the son of Robert and Julia Berigan Barkley.  Steve was a devoted husband, father, and papa.

Steve was raised in Salina where he graduated from Salina South High School in 1976.  He married Kimberly Mae Prater on March 23, 1985 in Salina.  They had one daughter, Jessica (granddaughter Bayleigh) and son, Matthew.

Steve was a man of many talents and boundless energy. Through the years he had worked at Great Plains Manufacturing and was a cattle rancher at Rolling Hills Ranch before starting his own construction business and doing trim carpentry.

Survivors include his wife Kim of the home; daughter Jessica J. Barkley Kercahl and granddaughter Bayleigh M. Kerchal; son Matthew S Barkley all of Salina.

He is also survived by his sister Michelle (Kevin) Nicolay of Augusta, KS., brothers, Rob Barkley of Kanopolis, KS., Bryon (Lori) Barkley of Nipomo, CA., and Chris Barkley of Salina, KS.  Along with a host of friends and family who will miss him dearly.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Judy Barkley and brother, Kerry Barkley.

Stephen H Barkley will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.  He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our memories.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Crossroads Church 1125 W. South Street Salina, KS. on Friday June 28th at 10am. 

In lieu of flowers, Steve would love donations be made to Children’s Cancer Research or American Heart Association.

Arrangements have been given to Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Ks.
