We are deeply saddened to announce that Karen Elaine (Murray) Hobson, passed away peacefully in Wichita, KS, on June 14, 2023 after a long battle with dementia. Karen’s boys and family were by her side. She was 75 years old and will be dearly missed.
Karen is survived by her oldest son John Hobson and partner Rachelle Windholz of Stillwater, OK, her youngest son Benjamin Hobson and wife Bri of Wichita, Ks, and their children Nora and Emma. Karen was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruby Murray, her older brother Bill Murray and wife Peggy, her older sister Joyce Fry, and her beloved yellow labrador, Holly. She also leaves behind numerous loving friends and relatives, including three nieces who were like sisters to her, Carol Mallicoat, Nancy Bowden, and Jere Gordon.
Karen was born on March 7, 1948 in Salina, KS. She graduated from Salina Central High School. Karen had 2 boys to whom she dedicated her love and energy to unceasingly. She was their biggest fan, attended their sporting events and concerts faithfully, and was a supportive and compassionate mother through all of their life transitions, challenges and important moments from marriages to births of her grandchildren. Karen worked for Millwood Realty for 25 years as an administrative assistant, secretary and salesperson. She was a wonderful home-maker, flower gardener, skilled seamstress, dedicated crafter and talented decorator. She loved to celebrate and decorate for holidays, especially Christmas. Karen looked forward to Christmas and time with family all year. She had a kind way of making visitors to her home feel like they were family.
Per Karen's wishes, she was cremated. A celebration of life and Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel, Salina. A graveside service will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the funeral fund for their beautiful and brave mother, to help them honor her final wishes and settle final expenses.
