SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Kansas City Monarchs have made two roster changes as they begin their seven-game road trip in Sioux City tonight.

The club also announced the signing of RHP Jeremy Rhoades — a former fourth round selection of the Los Angeles Angels in 2014. In addition, the Monarchs have traded IF/P Ramsey Romano to the Sussex County Miners in the Frontier League.

Rhoades, 28, last pitched for Triple-A Reno in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. In 18 appearances, Rhoades posted a 8.44 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 21⅓ innings. The right-hander logged a 5.40 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which was his best mark since the 2017 season in Advanced-A ball.

Ramsey Romano had served in double duty for the Monarchs this season. The native of El Cajon, California had gone 2-for-17 at the plate with an RBI this season, while also logging 19 ⅓ innings on the mound, with a 2-0 record and a 5.12 ERA. Romano played with Kansas City in 2019, where he hit .273 in 74 games with three home runs and 35 RBI.

The Monarchs open up their road trip tonight against the Sioux City Explorers. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard on the Monarchs Broadcast Network with the pregame beginning at 6:30. The game will also stream on aabaseball.tv.
