DSO Electric Cooperative in Solomon posted the following message on its website this morning.
We just received word that the rolling blackouts will now last 120 minutes.
Due to the record-breaking cold throughout the country, our power supplier and the power markets are facing a crisis.
We have been asked, along with all other utilities, to reduce our energy usage immediately. Please lower the temperature of your thermostat and reduce power usage for the next day or so.
It is possible that power may be shut off to parts of our state and country in the foreseeable future. We wanted to give you a heads up so you are prepared. Make sure you have batteries, blankets, food, water, etc.
We will keep you updated as this progresses.
