An evacuation notice was rescinded for all those within two miles of Hohneck and Watkins Roads, according to Saline County emergency officials.

Fire crews worked a large grass fire roughly 5-7 miles northwest of Salina, according to the National Weather Service.

The fire that started on the south side of Interstate 70 between Muir and Hedville Road crossed the interstate and burned north toward Culver, prompting the evacuation.

According to Salina Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Stansberry, one structural support, one brushfire maintenance, and one medical crew helped to put out the fire.

Fire crews from Kanopolis, Ellsworth, and Hedville also responded to the fire. Traffic was advised to avoid the interstate and take an alternate route for necessary travel.
