Four minor quakes rattle parts of Dickinson County

DICKINSON COUNTY - A series of earthquakes have struck parts of Dickinson County overnight and into Sunday morning.

The quakes followed two small quakes that rattled parts of Dickinson County Saturday morning.

A 2.4 magnitude quake struck at 11:47 p.m. Saturday northwest of Herington, according to the Kansas Geological Survey. The quake was centered south of Kansas Highway 4 (K-4) between Trail Road and Sage Road.

A 2.2 magnitude quake struck in the same area at 12:36 a.m. Sunday. It, too, was centered south of Kansas Highway 4 between Trail Road and Sage Road.

At 1:59 a.m. Sunday, a 2.0 magnitude quake struck a little more than a mile west of the previous quake. It was centered just east of Rain Road between 600 Avenue and K-4.

A 2.1 magnitude quake then struck at 9:08 a.m. Sunday west of Herington. It was centered southwest of the Trail Road/600 Avenue intersection.
