Ray Basart, 62, of Clay Center, died January 12, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1959, the son of Elvin and Florence (Anderson) Basart.
Ray grew up and attended school in Clay Center, graduating from CCCHS in 1978.
He worked at Big Lakes and Orr’s Furniture City. Ray then worked as a welder for Hutchinson/Mayrath for 43 years.
Ray was a simple man and and always had a quick comeback for everything. He enjoyed collecting diecast cars and roses.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edwin and Ron Basart.

Sister: Nancy Demars of Glasco, Kansas
Sister: Vickie and husband, Don Burkhardt of Smith Station, Alabama
Companion: Sherri Gross of Clay Center, Kansas
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the Kansas Masonic Literacy Center @ ESU c/o the funeral home.
