The Southeast of Saline Lady Trojan basketball team finishes it’s Sterling Invitational run with a convincing 40-26 win over the Kingman Lady Eagles.
At the half the teams were separated by just two points, but SES allowed just 10 second half points, and only three in the third en route to a big victory.
“Defensively we really stepped it up in the second half to get some stops and easy buckets,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said.
With this win, the Lady Trojans take fifth place in the Sterling Invitational and exit with a record of 6-5, a very successful week overall.
Southeast was led yet again by a big night from Karsyn Schlesener, who dropped 18 in the winning effort.
Coming off of a grueling matchup with Sterling the night before, fatigue was always going to be a factor this afternoon, but SES battled through in a complete effort.
“We struggled in the first half against a very physical team,” Smith said. “I thought in the second half we matched them physically and got some really good looks.”
The Lady Trojans will get a much deserved break over the weekend and will be back in action next Friday against the 1-8 Ellsworth Bearcats.
