Maria Socorro Vega Prieto, 78, of Chihuahua, Mexico passed away May 28, 2021 in Salina, Kansas. Socorro grew up in a farming home in Temosachic, Chihuahua. Life challenged her at a very young age and she responded with courage and determination throught her life. Socorro was a very hard worker, giving up was never an option. Her faith carried her through life. Socorro leaves a huge legacy behind. She was inspiring to everyone she met. Socorro raised seven wonderful children and will forever be missed.
She is survived by her daughter Danelia (Pilo) Herrera and their children, Elizabeth Vega, Claudia Soto, and Fernando Herrera; daughter Leticia Anchondo and her son, Raul Vasquez; son,Carlos (Manuela) Anchondo and their children, Anna Anchondo and Eva Anchondo; son Javier (Melinda) Anchondo and their children Cassie Moore, Shelby Ramos, and Sierra Ebert; daughter Lorena (Alfredo) Trejo and their children, Freddy Trejo and Julio Trejo; Celene (Homero Jose) Quezada and their children, Edgar Talamantes, Victoria Quezada, and Jose Carlos Quezada. Soccorito leaves behind 23 great-grandchildren.
Socorro was preceded in death by her daughter Anna Edith Anchond; her father Encarnacion Vega; her mother Raquel Priet; sister Antonieta Vega, and brother Rafael Vega.

La vida la reto desde muy joven y ella respondió con valor y determinación durante su vida. Socorro nos deja un gran legado. Ella era determinada e inspiradora. Socorro se reúne a mejor vida con su hija Anna Edith Anchondo. Su papa Encarnacion Vega, su mama Raquel Prieto. Hermana Antonieta Vega, y su hermano Rafael Vega.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral at noon on Monday, May 31, 2021. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A rosary and vigil services will be held in the Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, May 30, 2021 where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. that afternoon.
