Offensive outburst leads Coyote WSOC to 5-0 win over Evangel

Emma Gervy recorded her first hat trick as a Kansas Wesleyan Coyote and Hanna Castro added two goals as KWU blasted the Evangel Valor 5-0 on Saturday at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University.

The Coyotes improved to 2-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the KCAC with the win.

Wesleyan dominated the match outshooting Evangel 26-9 in the match with 18 shots on frame.

Evangel nearly scored first in the 17th minute by a diving save by Isabella Galvan kept the match scoreless.

In the 28th minute the Coyotes broke through. Paige Proper sent a ball into Gervy who made a line for the goal and slid it in just inside the far post to get the Coyotes on the board.

KWU carried the 1-0 lead into the half.

Castro had Wesleyan's next two tallies, both in the 56th minute, just 24 seconds apart.

The first came from a long pass by Isabella Anderson that Castro gathered made a couple dribbles towards goal and shot inside the far post.

The second came from a pass by Precious Nwosu to put the Coyotes up 3-0.

In the 62nd minute it was back to Gervy who sent a corner kick into the box and high above the reach of the Evangel goalkeeper and into the sidenetting for the score.

Gervy capped the scoring in the 68th minute with her third of the day.

Nwosu led the Coyotes with six shots, while Castro and Gervy had five each. Galvan got another clean sheet in goal with five saves.
