A Salina man being held in the Saline County Jail was arrested on an additional requested charge after he allegedly damaged a cart with health monitoring equipment.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that the Saline County Jail nurse was making her rounds at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Thursday and was in a cell with James Mallett, 34, of Salina, when Mallett allegedly became upset and slammed a cart with health monitoring equipment on it, destroying a $2,932 monitor, Soldan said.
The nurse was not injured. A corrections officer was with the nurse at the time of the incident, Soldan said.
Mallett was arrested on the requested charge of felony damage to property, Soldan said.
