June 29, 1945 - February 14, 2023

John’s life began on June 29, 1945, in Wichita.  He is the son of Newton and Laura (Armstrong) Griffith. 

John was united in marriage to Mary Konarik on August 16, 1969, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. 

He had been employed as a sales representative for several area businesses including Hillsboro Industries, and Hallmark Cards. John also sold insurance, real estate, and farm equipment during his career. 

He was a faithful parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Marion, where he served as an eucharistic minister, lector, usher and had been active in the Knights of Columbus. 

John had an amazing memory, and a heart of gold.  He volunteered his time to many worthwhile groups including AA and Al-Anon and he was an avid reader.  John had unconditional love for his family and friends.  He enjoyed basketball and football from his earliest days at Emporia State and Kansas University. 

John is survived by his wife Mary of Marion; children John (Jessica) Griffith of Emporia, Bill (Stephanie) Griffith of Fruita, CO., and Michelle Griffith of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren and his sister Michelle Siegfried of Topeka. 

John passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Marion. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

A prayer vigil will be held on Thursday February 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Marion.  Rosary will be prayed on Friday February 24th at 10 a.m. at the church followed by his Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Isaac Coulter.  John will be laid to rest in the Griffith Cemetery, Cedar Point.
