The National Weather Service's Storm Fury on the Plains presentations begin next week. Can spring be far behind?

Once again, meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Wichita will be making presentations throughout their coverage area to "help prepare storm spotters and weather enthusiasts for the upcoming storm season," according to information on NWS-Wichita's webite.

"Our staff will provide an in depth weather presentation that will engage the audience by teaching them about the different types of storms, the individual storm features that help a person to recognize the storms potential severity, how to report hazardous weather and severe weather safety," the weather service noted.

Additionally, two virtual presentations are scheduled. Links to register for the virtual presentations will appear on the weather service's website approximately a week or two before the virtual presentations, according to the weather service. Those presentations are scheduled for March 15 and April 12.

Meteorologists also plan to present several advanced spotter presentations.

"For the first time since 2019 we will be offering a few advanced spotter talks. These talks will go more into the science of severe storms along with some of the tools and techniques we use to forecast them. This is a great opportunity for the extreme weather enthusiast in your family!" the weather service noted on its website.

All in-person presentations will be subject to cancellation should pandemic conditions warrant such.

Following are the presentations that are scheduled in our area.

Saline County: 6:30 p.m., Salina Central High School auditorium
