Marvin Lee Jeffers, 82, passed away May 10, 2023 in Lincoln, KS. He was born on December 15, 1940 on a farm in Beaver township, Lincoln County, to Clyde E. and Mary E. (Lessor) Jeffers. Marvin attended Lincoln Elementary and Lincoln High School (Class of 1959), then attended Fort Hays State University to obtain a master’s degree in Botany.
After graduation, Marvin was employed by the Bureau of Land Management in Burns, OR for 10 years. He worked in Portland, OR for the Bonneville Power Administration for 24 years performing audits on high-voltage electrical substations for the Northwestern states. After retiring in 1997, he returned to Lincoln, KS. Marvin married Karen LaVaughn (Bird) Hillegeist in Lincoln on February 14, 2001.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Charlene (Ryan) Jeffers. He is survived by his wife Karen; son Bradley Kent Jeffers of Texas; brother Marlin Jeffers of Arizona; step-sons, Royce (Toni) Hillegeist, Tracy (Becky) Hillegeist, Scott Hillegeist, Brett (Heather) Hillegeist, and Brian (Megan) Hillegeist; step-daughters, Colleen (Randy) Lott and Brandi (Justin) Bennett; many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; nephew Kenneth (Dulce) Jeffers and family; and niece Stacey (Jeffers) Gonzalez.
Marvin will be laid to rest in Lincoln City Cemetery in a private family graveside service.
