Kenneth Michael Winter, 73, Hillsboro, Kansas passed away February 2, 2022 at Hillsboro Community Hospital in Hillsboro, Kansas.
Kenneth was born February 23, 1948 in Hillsboro, Kansas to Eddie and Pauline (Kew) Winter. He was raised in Hillsboro and attended Hillsboro Elementary, Junior and Hillsboro High schools.
He worked for several companies in Hillsboro including AMPI, Coop, Roundup Industries and Hillsboro Industries. He also worked in Wichita, Kansas at Uniflow, which was associated with Hillsboro Industries. Over the years he made many friends among his co-workers and remained friends with them until his death.
He was drafted into the Army on November 30, 1967 and served until November 29, 1972. While in the Army he served in Germany as a radioman.
Ken married his wife Ruth of Wichita, Kansas, not only once but twice. They were joined together as man and wife for over 44 years. Ken has two daughters: Holly Meier (Mike Cox) of Little River, Kansas and Heidi Luna (Justin) of Hillsboro, Kansas.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughters Holly Meier and Heidi Luna; brother Terry Winter (Janet of Wichita Kansas; grandchildren Colby Meier (Nichole) of Little River, Kansas, Andrew Meier (Moriah) of Lehigh, Kansas, Ian Jenkins and Kaden Jenkins of Moundridge, Kansas, Adijo Winter of Hillsboro, Kansas; great-granddaughters Joelyn Meier and Raylee Meier of Lehigh, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Pauline Winter and brother Steven Winter.
Ken enjoyed making trips to his mother’s homeland of England and enjoyed showing his wife England when they traveled there several years ago. He enjoyed watching his daughter play softball, volleyball, basketball and swim meets. He had a special love of music and in his younger days played drums in the Hillsboro Band. If you needed to know about music including songs, he would know the answer.
A Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Ebenfeld Church Fellowship Hall, rural Hillsboro. Committal service at Ebenfeld Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.
