Rev. Philip N. Youngquist, Jr., age 92, of Lindsborg, Kansas, died at Lindsborg Community Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Philip was born on October 19, 1931 in Ada, Minnesota. Philip received his education at Luther Academy and Junior College at Wahoo, Nebraska (May 1950), Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas (1952) and Augustana Theological Seminary, Rock Island, Illinois (1956).

Survivors: wife, Marilyn Youngquist, Lindsborg, KS; son, Kenneth Youngquist and wife Debra, Bartlett, TN; daughter, Kathryn Thurlow and husband Lynn, Lindsborg, KS; son, Pastor Mark Youngquist and wife Pastor Connie Spitzak, Coralville, IA, and son, John Youngquist and wife Lisa, Ozark, MO; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Philip was an ordained minister through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  During his years preaching the gospel, he served as pastor at Bethel Lutheran Church, Herndon, KS; Fridhem Lutheran Church, Funk, NE; Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Washington, KS; Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, KS; Marion Hill Lutheran Church, White City; St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Great Bend, KS; First Lutheran Church, Morganville, KS; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linn, KS; Zion Lutheran Church, Clyde, KS; and St. John Lutheran Church, Salina, KS (visitation pastor).  Outside the church, Philip helped start a Boy Scout Troup as served as a leader in Funk, NE and also in Washington, KS.

Leisure activities for Philip included golfing, fishing, camping, cheering for Nebraska “Big Red” football, reading, and traveling on bus trips.

Philip wrote in his memoirs “for to God belongs all the glory for what His grace has accomplished in my life.  I am eternally grateful to Him for the blessings He has provided through my family and life experiences”. 

Celebration of Life Service will be at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, KS, Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 am.  Family will have a private burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg, KS.
