There was a lot to be proud of for Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer on Saturday night at JRI Hospitality Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.
The Coyotes celebrated the 2025 seniors and secured the No. 3 seed in the KCAC Men's Soccer Tournament thanks to a 7-0 win over the Avila University Eagles.
KWU will host Tabor College on Tuesday at JRI Stadium in the KCAC quarterfinals.
Wesleyan wrapped the regular season the same way it started with a 7-0 count. KWU opened the year with a 7-0 win over Central Christian College of the Bible back on August 23.
Just like in the season opener, Mateo Hoyos had a big night for the Coyotes against Avila. He recorded a hat trick for the Coyotes in the win.
Wesleyan's first goal came in the seventh minute by Noel Zimbeva.
After a brief break with no goals, the Coyotes got back to work again. Hoyos netted his first in the 28th minute, and just over a minute later, Seth Flores scored to make it 3-0.
The 3-0 lead would hold to the half.
Skyler Denny was next for the Coyotes with a 67th minute goal assisted by Juan Manuel Lozada Leon.
Then it was back-to-back goals for Hoyos for the Coyotes to complete his hat trick.
Pierre Gueguen capped the scoring with an 85th minute goal.
KWU outshot Avila 27-1 in the match, putting 20 shots on frame. Hoyos and Denny led the Coyotes with four shots each.
