The Lee Hardware Lofts Phase II, a new 50-unit affordable housing development in Salina, is set to celebrate its grand opening on November 7, 2024. The project, spearheaded by Overland Property Group and Flint Hills Holdings Group, is part of the continued redevelopment of the historic Henry D. Lee complex, contributing to the revitalization of downtown Salina and providing essential affordable housing.
The grand opening event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Lee Lofts buildings, featuring food trucks and a live performance by country music artist Logan Mize. The event is open to the public, offering an opportunity for the community to gather and explore the newly completed residential addition.
Lee Lofts Phase II was made possible through a collaboration that included Overland Property Group, Flint Hills Holdings Group, the Community Housing Development Corporation of Central Kansas, Bennington State Bank, Redstone Equity, Inc., the City of Salina, and other partners. The project offers housing options for households earning up to 80% of the area median income (AMI), addressing a critical need for affordable living solutions in the area.
The Lee Lofts buildings, once the birthplace of Lee jeans, maintain their historic character, with features like the original floor stains from the denim dye used years ago. Overland Property Group has preserved these elements to honor the building’s legacy as part of Salina’s history.
Residents of Lee Lofts Phase II will have access to a range of modern amenities, including a community room for social events, a fitness center, and a secure playground for children. The development aims to provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals and families, enhancing the quality of life for those facing financial challenges.
