Sarah’s life began on December 22, 1981, the daughter of Martin and Jeannie (Hochevar) Colling in Wellington, Kansas.
She attended Caldwell High School, was a devoted stay-at-home mother, and had recently begun to put her creativity and ingenuity to work as an independent contractor or handywoman. She was a member of the Potwin First United Methodist Church and Remington Booster Club. She enjoyed working on school projects with her kids, coaching and attending their sports activities, doing craft projects, sketching, working on her home and yard, remodeling her mother’s rental house, and helping her friends and neighbors. She had a deep dedication for her church family as she was the director of children’s ministries and worked enthusiastically with the youth group. She taught children’s church, children’s Sunday school, was the lay leader, and helped lead Sunday morning worship.
Sarah was all about having fun and brightening the world wherever she was. She had a beautiful, mischievous personality and was the first to lighten the room with her sense of humor.
Her loving family includes her parents Martin and Jeannie Colling of Peck, Kansas; her children Christian, Lucas, Anna and Mary Shockley; siblings Dan Huynh (Thao) of Newport Beach, California, Rebekah Alexander (Loren) of Wellington, Michael Colling of Peck, David Colling of Wichita; boyfriend Tony Haag of Newton; nieces and nephews Henry, Brandon (Abi), Kyle, Kyra, Keira and Kami Huynh, Victoria Washington, Andrew Alexander, and David Colling, Jr.; uncles Bradley Colling (Marsha), Bruce Colling and Brian Colling (Loan); aunts Laura Hochevar, and Chris Cave; lots of cousins and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents George and Rebecca (Combow) Colling and maternal grandparents Anthony and Betty (Saunders) Hochevar; uncles William Louis Colling and Michael Anthony Hochevar, and infant nephew Scott Michael Washington
Sarah passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the age of 39 years old.
Her celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Potwin First United Methodist Church.
