A Salina man was arrested late Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly ran into traffic and banged on vehicle windows in downtown Salina.

Officers were sent to the area of Seventh Street and W. Iron Avenue for the report of a man who was banging on car windows and running in and out of traffic, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning.

Based on the description given, officers were able to locate Zachary Fairchild, 32, of Salina, a bit further east in front of the DG Market, 511 E. Iron Avenue. There officers also spoke with a 55-year-old man from Abilene who told them Fairchild ran up to his pickup and began pounding on his windows trying to get him to fight.

Fairchild then informed officers that he was leaving and began to run, but tripped in the street and fell down, Forrester said.

Fairchild was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.
