Today the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a mill and overlay on Interstate 70 (I-70) in Saline County.
Work on the westbound and eastbound lanes of I-70 will occur between the Hedville Road interchange and the I-70/Interstate 135/U.S. Highway 81 interchange.
Construction will take place Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work during daylight hours. Traffic will be reduced to one 15-foot lane at a reduced speed through the work zone. Drivers should expect minor delays, not exceeding five minutes.
APAC Inc. of Hutchinson is the prime contractor and has scheduled this $2.5 million project to be completed by October, weather permitting.
KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1.
