Suspect gets 'jumped' before allegedly stealing items from a business

A male suspect was allegedly 'jumped' before stealing items from a business and is currently facing requested warrants for his arrest.

According to the Salina Police Department On Wednesday, July 9th at around 2:30 pm, employees from Gordine Auto Service on 500 W. North St. reported a burglary that occurred at the business. Employees stated that they left the business at around noon when the burglary happened. 

When they returned, the employees reported that they saw food on the floor of the business. Afterwards they reviewed security footage and saw a man enter business without forced entry. Police stated the man allegedly stole a Dell laptop, a bag of chips and bread.

Officers arrived to the scene and reviewed security footage. They were able to identify the suspect.

Later on at around 6:00 pm, officers went to the 100 block of S. Ohio after reports of man 'lying in the grass.' They identified the man as the suspect who burglarized Gordine Auto Service. Officers then interviewed the suspect and noticed he had 'facial injuries.'

According to police, the suspect stated that prior to the burglary he was in the area of 781 N. Broadway and was 'jumped by several people.' The suspect said that medication and a bike was stolen from him. He was then transported to Salina Regional Health Center, where the suspect was treated for facial fractures and an injury to his eye that required surgery.

The suspect is currently facing warrants that were requested by police.
