KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter from the Pittsburgh Pirates for left hander Evan Sisk and infielder Callan Moss.
Falter, 28, posted a 3.73 (47 ER in 113.1 IP) with 70 strikeouts and a 1.18 WHIP across 22 starts for the Pirates this season. He enjoyed a career-long 5-game winning streak across 9 starts from May 9-June 22, during which he posted a 2.44 ERA (13 ER in 48.0 IP), a .213 opponents’ average (36-for-169) and the Pirates went 7-2. In 110 career appearances (81 starts), he has gone 25-28 with a 4.40 ERA (222 ER in 454.0) and 335 strikeouts (17.8 K%).
This is Falter’s fifth Major League season and was his third with the Pirates after being acquired by them from Philadelphia on Aug. 1, 2023 for infielder Rodolfo Castro. He was originally selected by the Phillies in the 5th round of the 2015 Draft out of Chino Hills High School (Calif.).Sisk, 28, made his Major League debut on April 15 at Yankee Stadium and allowed 1 run over 5.1 innings (5 games) this season. He was acquired from Minnesota with right-hander Steven Cruz for outfielder Michael A. Taylor on Jan. 23, 2023.
Moss, 21, appeared in 92 games for High-A Quad Cities this season and slashed .270/.372/.418 (89-for-330) after he was signed as a minor league free agent on Aug. 6, 2024.
