MCPHERSON -- The McPherson County Health Department has reported one new case of COVID-19, bringing the county total to 142. The health department also provided additional information about the county's lone COVID-19 related death.
Positive case No. 142 is a symptomatic female in her 50s with unknown exposure and is recovering at home, according to the health department.
As for the COVID-19 related death, the health department reported the following.
McPherson County Health Department reports the information that is provided to us via medical records. Since the announcement of our first fatality, further medical records have been received. The young man was in his 30s, had a medical history of hypertension, and passed away within 10 days of his COVID-19 diagnosis. He was actively isolated at home and suffered from acute hypoxic respiratory failure and a cerebrovascular accident (stroke), both complications of COVID-19 per the medical record. Correlations between strokes and COVID-19 are being studied, but more information about the prevalence can be found at the following links and other reliable sources.
Additionally, the health department provided the following updated information about all of the county's COVID-19 cases.

● Cases 50-59 years old: 22
● Cases 40-49 years old: 20
● Cases 30-39 years old: 16
● Cases 18-29 years old: 40
● Cases under 18 years old: 11

● Hospitalized cases (may not represent current hospitalizations): 10
● Ventilated cases (may not represent current ventilated cases): 4
