A Salina teen was arrested on multiple requested charges, including aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer after an alleged incident early Sunday morning in west Salina.

Officers were sent to the 1700 block of Sycamore Street at approximately 1:40 a.m. Sunday for the report of someone kicking in a back door, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. When they arrived, they met a 17-year-old boy who was exiting the front door.

Forrester said the boy ignored commands from the officers and, instead, allegedly took a fighting stance and a physical altercation ensued. At one point, the boy allegedly headbutted and kicked and officer. Another officer sustained a broken thumb during the altercation. Eventually, the boy was taken into custody.

The boy's mother told police that she had earlier heard her son and his 16-year-old girlfriend having a verbal altercation in the basement.

Forrester said the boy allegedly took the girl's $400 cellphone and refused to give it back. He then allegedly began damaging items in the basement, at which time his father removed him from the residence.

The boy then allegedly used a barbell to break in the backdoor, causing an estimated $300 worth of damage. The boy then allegedly entered the kitchen and flipped over the kitchen table, causing an estimated $200 worth of damage.

Forrester said the boy was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The boy was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.

●Aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer

●Assault on a law enforcement officer

●Three counts of battery of a law enforcement officer

●Battery

●Interference with a law enforcement officer

●Criminal depravation of property

●Criminal damage to property

●Minor in consumption of alcohol
