The Southeast of Saline softball team wrapped up the regular season in style with a pair of 13-0 wins over the Russell Broncos to close out the campaign on a six-game winning streak.
The Lady Trojans, who await their regional assignment, will enter the postseason at 15-5 with a runner-up finish in the NCAA.
In-game one of the doubleheader Bryna Baird missed perfection by the slimmest of margins, allowing only a single hit in five innings of shutout ball, striking out nine without walking a batter in the process.
All nine members of the SES order produced at least one hit, with multi-hit games coming from two-thirds of the lineup. Chase Gilpin led the way in runs produced, driving in three as part of a 2-4 day at the plate.
Game two saw more of the same as the Lady Trojans posted a six-spot in the sixth inning to put the final nail in the Bronco coffin, tacking on 16 hits after posting 17 in game one.
This time it was Carly Commerford who dominated in the circle, tossing five innings of one-hit shutout ball, fanning eight while walking just one.
Lexi Jacobson came on to finish the job facing exactly two batters and striking out both on just nine pitches.
Brielle Ptacek put together a stellar 3-4 day at the plate in game two, driving in a team-best three runs as the Lady Trojans took the second of two comfortable wins.
Southeast will await their regional assignment this week with postseason play beginning on May 16-17.
