Salina Police Department (SPD) officers are investigating a burglary that occurred at Dean Evans Stadium sometime during the evening of Thursday, August 8.
SPD Cpt. James Feldman said officers were dispatched to the stadium, located at 1201 Markley Road, at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 9.
“Contact was made with employees of Phillips South Electric, who stated that someone had broke into their blue Conex box and stole approximately 2,000 feet of copper wire that was on 500 foot spools,” Feldman said. "Also pulled were wires that were feeding two poles, which was valued at another $2,000.”
Each of the copper wire spools were valued at $500 and the damage to the conex box was valued at $400. The total value of loss is estimated at $4,440.
Currently, there are no surveillance cameras in the area, and no suspects have been identified. The Salina Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the burglary to come forward.
