🏀 Sacred Heart rolls by Beloit in a League sweep

Sacred Heart was back in league action on Tuesday as they hit the road for Beloit, the Lady Knights started things off strong with a 57-43 win, and the boys topping off the night with a 61-37 win over the Trojans.

Girls: Sacred Heart 57 Beloit 43

On the girls’ side of things, the Lady Knights found themselves down by as many as 6 in the first quarter and turning it over 7 times, Beloit would lead 12-9 going into the second quarter. The Lady Knights would turn, turnovers into points in the second and turn to the defense only allow the Lady Trojans four field goals in the second and take a decent lead 31-22 at the intermission.

The height of Beloit would make it difficult for the utilization of Edyn down under the basket, so the Lady Knights would look to the Lee sisters to hit from beyond the arc. 9 points came from the two from deep range and would lead 44-34 going into the final quarter of play. The Lady Knights would hit 9 triples coming from Addie, Emmy, and Nicole and win 57-43 on the road.

The Lady Knights had three members go into double digits, Addie Lee led the way with 19, Emmy Lee finished her evening with 14 and Skylar Douglas compiled 11.

Beloit was led in scoring by Karlie Smith she finished with 20 in the defeat.

Sacred Heart moves to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in league play and will face Hutch Trinity at home on Friday.

Boys: Sacred Heart 61 Beloit 37

A hot shooting Knights team would look to bounce back, and they most certainly did against Beloit. The Knights came out in a physical defensive battle and would lead 16-9 at the end of first. The Knights defense made it impossible for Beloit to score the basket, Beloit only hitting one field goal in the second quarter and hitting 3 from the free throw line. Sacred Heart was rolling in the second and would outscore Beloit 20-5 and take a big lead at intermission 36-14.

Going into the third quarter, Sacred Heart would pull off their bench and Kolton Sprague would come in defensive huge forcing a turnover and turning it into points as the Knights would extend their lead 51-29 at the end of the third. The Knights would keep the pace rolling and be victorious in the league shootout winning 61-37.

The Knights had four go into double digits in the victory, Noah Hines and Maddox Wells both finished with 13, Kolton Sprague would come off the bench in a huge role and finish with 11, Luke Koland would contribute with 10.

Truitt King led Beloit with 14 coming off the bench.

The Knights move to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in league play and look to Friday to take on Hutch Trinity at home.
