Saline County woman hospitalized after 3-vehicle crash

RILEY COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just before 7:30a.m. Friday in Riley County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Haleana J. Simmons, 19, Assaria, was westbound on U.S. 24 one half mile east of Blue River Hills Road.

The driver attempted to pass an eastbound 2016 Chevy Equinox driven by Rachel M. Harmison, 23, Leonardville in the eastbound lane.  The car struck the SUV in the front drivers side.

After impact the SUV overturned and came to rest in the south ditch. The Ford then struck a westbound 1996 Peterbilt semi driven by Meyer, Brady Q. Meyer of Linn, Kansas.

EMS transported Simmons to Wesley Medical Center and Harmison to Via Christi in Manhattan. Myer was not injured. The KHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
