The annual Impact the Cause event is returning on Saturday, October 5th, offering a variety of activities for the community. The event will feature a 5K run, a 2-mile fun walk, and kids' races.

Registration for the event opens at 7 a.m. on the day of the race, with the 5K run and 2-mile fun walk starting at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done online at admin.chronotrack.com/r/80104. The entry fee for both races is $30, which includes a long-sleeve T-shirt.

For those who are unable to participate in the races but still want to support the cause, a non-participant registration fee of $30 is available. This includes a T-shirt and allows participants to contribute to the event's fundraising efforts.

The event will also feature free kids' races, starting at 8:45 a.m. There are three age groups for the kids' races: Kindergarten and under, 1st-3rd graders, and 4th-6th graders. The top three finishers in each category will receive medals, and all participants will receive a ribbon.

The funds will go towards the General Public Transportation Fund, which helps patients get to healthcare appointments and the purchase of playground equipment at the walking trail near Memorial Hospital.

The event is sponsored by a variety of local businesses and organizations, including 99KG, KINA, Memorial Health System, KSAL, The General, News-Times, State Farm, LM Roofing, Reflector-Chronicle, and many others.
