
Robert Riley Dixon passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation due to complications from Huntington’s Disease. Robert was born December 1, 1953, in Matagorda County, Texas, to Riley Max and Marcia Long Dixon.
Robert was a 1971 graduate of Garden City Senior High and received his Diesel Mechanic certification from Liberal Area Vo-Tech.
On November 5, 1976, Robert married his soulmate, Rose Marie Hahn, in Garden City, Kansas. Their union was filled with love, building their home in Friend, Kansas, and they were blessed with one son, Matthew Robert.
Over the years, Robert built a remarkable career, dedicating his diesel mechanic skills to Agri Parts Center for 22 years and later to the Garden City Co-Op. In 2017, Robert embraced retirement and he and Rose moved from Friend, Kansas to Minneapolis, Kansas, to be closer to his son and family. He found immeasurable joy in spending time with his son, Matthew (Kate) Dixon, and his beloved granddaughters, Paige, Elizabeth, and Genevieve.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of nearly five decades, Rose; his devoted son, Matthew (Kate); and his three granddaughters, Paige, Elizabeth, and Genevieve who brought endless pride and happiness to his life. His memory will also live on in the hearts of extended family and dear friends.
Robert will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, boundless love for his family, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and resilience that will inspire all who knew him.
The family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 A.M, Tuesday, March 18. Celebration of life services will follow at 10:00 A.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3:30 P.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, Kansas.
