Florence Smith, 92, of Abilene passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at Village Manor in Abilene. She was born December 26, 1928 in Haddam, Kansas the daughter of Adolph and Lena (Ryser) Zurfluh.
Florence lived in various places throughout her life including Haddam, Clifton, Abilene from 1951-1959, Lexington, KY., Bentonville, Ark., and later moved back to Abilene in 1978. She worked for Tyson Food in Arkansas and later working as a nurse’s aid for Highland Nursing Home in Abilene for twenty plus years.
On December 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to Loren C. Smith. He preceded her in death July 3, 1982.
Florence was a member of the First United Brethren in Christ Church in Abilene, Lioness Club, Gideons. She was also a wonderful caregiver to Sarah Kuntz.
Florence is survived by her two brothers, Walter of Pasadena, California and Larry Zurfluh of Salina, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Loren, nephew Paul Else and two sisters, Marie Else and Viola Stutesman.
Graveside services for Florence will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Abilene City Cemetery.
Friends may come by Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home Wednesday from 9AM until 5PM to pay their respects.
The family suggests memorials be given to Hospice of Dickinson County or to the First United Brethren in Christ Church of Abilene.
