When a trailer was missing from a local restaurant, the owners thought an employee had borrowed it, but a call from law enforcement personnel in Harvey County proved otherwise.

Sometime between Thursday and Tuesday, someone stole a silver, enclosed 10-foot Interstate trailer from Imperial Garden, 844 E. Crawford Street, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The owners had noticed that the trailer was gone, but didn't report it as stolen because they thought an employee had borrowed it, he said.

That changed Tuesday afternoon, however, when law enforcement personnel from Harvey County contacted the owners to let them know that the license plate that had been on the trailer had been illegally placed on a stolen car. That's when they knew the trailer had been stolen.

The trailer was valued at $2,000, Forrester said.
